Ayumi Moore Aoki is a Paris-based social entrepreneur, tech diplomat, and champion for gender equality, working at the forefront of inclusive innovation and digital transformation.
As the Founder and CEO of Women in Tech Global, Aoki leads one of the world’s most influential movements advancing women in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics). Since its founding in 2018, the organisation has expanded to more than 60 countries, building a vibrant global community of over 250,000 members.
Under her leadership, the organisation operates through four strategic pillars: education, business, digital inclusion, and advocacy, each designed to address systemic barriers and unlock opportunities for women and girls. With an ambitious target of empowering five million women by 2030, Aoki has positioned Women in Tech Global as a key player in the global development ecosystem.
Advancing Tech Diplomacy
Beyond community building, Aoki is a pioneer in the emerging field of tech diplomacy. As the founder of the Tech Diplomacy Global Institute, she is helping redefine how nations engage with technology on the global stage.
Working in collaboration with UNESCO, the Institute serves as a neutral platform that connects governments, academia, and the private sector to shape international digital policy. In 2025, Aoki spearheaded the launch of the Samarkand Declaration on Tech Diplomacy, a landmark initiative aimed at ensuring every nation develops the capacity to navigate and influence the digital age.
She also introduced the Osaka Protocol during the Women in Tech Global Summit, a forward-looking framework designed to empower 100 million women and girls by 2030 through access to STEM education, workforce development, and digital inclusion.
Influence at the Highest Levels
Aoki’s expertise is widely recognised across global institutions. She serves on UNESCO’s International Consultative Group of Experts focused on closing the gender gap in science and contributes to the World Economic Forum through its Global Future Council.
Her thought leadership extends to some of the world’s most influential platforms, where she has spoken at events such as the World Economic Forum, TEDx, LEAP, and the UN ESCAP Summit. She also lectures at leading academic institutions, including Johns Hopkins University, Sciences Po, and École des Ponts, where she is currently pursuing an executive doctorate.
A Life Shaped by Global Experience
Born in Brazil to a multicultural background and raised in South Africa during apartheid, Aoki’s worldview has been shaped by firsthand experiences of inequality and resilience. A self-taught coder and a mother of four, she embodies a unique blend of technical expertise, global perspective, and human-centred leadership.
Her journey, from navigating diverse cultural landscapes to building global institutions, continues to inform her commitment to equity in technology and inclusive innovation.
Aoki’s contributions have earned her international recognition, including being named among Forbes France’s 40 Women and receiving the AWS ID&E Community Trailblazer Award. Yet, beyond accolades, her true impact lies in the systems she is helping to build, systems where women are empowered, voices are amplified, and technology serves as a force for inclusion rather than division.
At the core of Aoki’s work is a clear and compelling vision: a world where technology is accessible to all, and where women play a central role in shaping its future. Through her leadership in Women in Tech Global and the Tech Diplomacy Global Institute, she is not just advocating for change; she is actively engineering it.
