Leah Nakazwe Kooma has been appointed Chief Executive Officer of Liquid Intelligent Technologies Zambia, effective 1 April.
With over two decades of experience across telecommunications, financial services, and media, Leah brings a depth of expertise that aligns with Liquid’s strategic growth ambitions. Her appointment reinforces the company’s drive to expand its leadership in digital infrastructure in Zambia and across the region, while underscoring a continued commitment to innovation and enhanced connectivity.
Her leadership comes at a critical moment for the business. According to Wellington Makamure, CEO of Sub-Saharan Africa at Cassava Technologies, Leah’s track record of delivering results positions her well to drive the next phase of growth for Liquid Zambia and contribute to the company’s regional expansion strategy.
Leah began her career at Barclays Bank before moving into telecommunications with Celtel, where she gained experience across multiple African markets. She later joined the founding team of Vodafone Zambia in 2016, playing a key role in launching the country’s first 4G LTE network as Chief Sales and Distribution Officer.
In 2017, she transitioned to MultiChoice Zambia, where she served as GOtv Commercial General Manager before rising to Chief Customer Officer and eventually Managing Director—roles that further strengthened her expertise in customer strategy and business leadership.
Speaking about her appointment, Leah expressed enthusiasm about joining Liquid, noting that her background in sales, marketing, and customer service has shaped her understanding of customer needs and effective engagement. She highlighted her experience working across diverse teams and cultures as a key asset in driving collaboration and business growth.
Leah holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Development Studies from the University of Zambia and an MBA from the University of South Wales. She also serves on several boards, including as Chair of the Mulungushi International Conference Centre, and is a member of the Institute of Directors and Business Professional Women International.
