The family of Anita Nyambura Mugweru is in mourning following her alleged killing in Nakuru, in an incident that has raised concern over rising cases of domestic violence.
According to reports, Mugweru is said to have been fatally attacked by her estranged husband, a senior officer in the Kenya Defence Forces, during a domestic altercation.
Police reports filed at Nakuru Police Station indicate that the incident occurred in the St Mary’s area. A househelp who was present at the time told authorities that the couple had been involved in a dispute before the incident.
The report states that the situation escalated during the argument, leading to a fatal outcome. The incident was reportedly witnessed by the couple’s young child and the househelp.
Efforts were made to rush the victim to a nearby hospital, where she was pronounced dead on arrival.
Speaking to the media, the family of the deceased expressed fears that justice may not be fully served, citing the suspect’s alleged connections within security agencies. They have called for a transparent and thorough investigation into the matter.
This case adds to a series of reported domestic violence incidents in Nakuru County, raising concerns among residents and stakeholders about safety within households and the need for stronger intervention mechanisms.
