FAWE has deepened their partnership with World Vision Mozambique to further the cause of girls’ education and protection throughout the country.
During a recent strategic meeting, leaders from the Forum for African Women Educationalists (FAWE) Africa and FAWE Mozambique engaged with World Vision Mozambique to explore new avenues for supporting girls, especially those in vulnerable and crisis-affected communities.
Key participants included Ms. Teresa Omondi Adeitan, Deputy Executive Director and Head of Programmes at FAWE Africa, along with Ms. Dakcha Achá, National Coordinator of FAWE Mozambique, and Ms. Nércia Manjate, Vice Chairperson of the FAWE Mozambique Board. The group was warmly received by Ms. Maria Carolina, Country Director of World Vision Mozambique, and joined by Ms. Adelina Mutambe, Coordinator for Safeguarding, Gender Equality, and Social Inclusion.
Their discussions focused on enhancing collaborative efforts in three priority areas: supporting continued education for girls during emergencies, building teacher capacity through gender-responsive pedagogy, and preventing school-related gender-based violence. These focal points underscore a shared commitment to fostering safe, inclusive, and empowering environments that enable every Mozambican girl to thrive.
The Forum for African Women Educationalists, founded in 1992 by pioneering African women ministers of education, has grown into a pan-African organization present in 34 countries. FAWE Mozambique, active since 1998, has played a major role in shaping gender-responsive education policies and running grassroots initiatives, such as mentorship, life-skills programs, and teacher training. World Vision Mozambique, a leading child-focused humanitarian agency, shares this mission through its work in education, child protection, and gender equality.
Speaking at the meeting, Ms. Teresa Omondi Adeitan emphasized that sustainable change is only possible through strategic partnerships and collective action at both policy and community levels.
By combining FAWE’s expertise in gender-responsive education with World Vision’s strong community presence, the organizations hope to accelerate progress so that all girls in Mozambique not only attend school, but are equipped to succeed.
This renewed partnership advances FAWE’s Strategic Plan (2023–2027), which aims to promote access, equity, and girls’ rights across Africa. Together, FAWE Africa, FAWE Mozambique, and World Vision Mozambique are forging a path to ensure every girl in Mozambique has the opportunity, safety, and support to reach her full potential.
