Kenya Women Parliamentary Association, in partnership with Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung Kenya, convened a strategic reflection and capacity-building forum under the WYDE Political Parties Programme to strengthen women’s voices in Parliament through leadership skills development and strategic networking.
The forum brought together seasoned women leaders and emerging politicians for meaningful reflection, peer learning, and knowledge exchange.
It also created space to evaluate progress, examine the shifting political landscape, discuss barriers affecting women in leadership, and sharpen KEWOPA’s strategic direction for the future.
During the discussions, Beatrice Akinyi Oyomo, Consolata Wakwabubi, and Jayne Kihara shared candid reflections on the realities of women’s leadership in Parliament, highlighting issues around visibility, cultural barriers, and media portrayal.
The leaders emphasised the importance of serving with dignity while intentionally shaping public narratives around women’s leadership and governance.
The forum reinforced the need for women MPs to actively tell their own stories in clear, strategic, and impactful ways while strengthening their influence in representation and decision-making.
