Faith Odhiambo has been named among Africa’s 25 Most Inspiring Women of 2025, a recognition that cements her growing influence in the legal and governance landscape across the continent.
As the youngest woman ever elected President of the Law Society of Kenya (LSK), Odhiambo has earned widespread acclaim for her courageous leadership, unwavering integrity, and steadfast commitment to defending the rule of law.
Since assuming office, she has revitalized the LSK’s influence in public discourse, strengthened its governance structures, and spoken out fearlessly on issues affecting both the legal profession and the broader society.
“I am deeply honored by this recognition. It is a testament not only to my personal journey but also to the collective power of women across Africa who continue to lead, shape policy, and demand accountability,” said Odhiambo in a statement following the announcement.
The Institute for African Women in Law (IAWL) Most Inspiring Women list is published annually to spotlight African women who are breaking barriers in law, governance, and social justice. The 2025 edition features women from across the continent whose work has advanced gender equality, championed legal innovation, and empowered marginalized communities.
Under Odhiambo’s leadership, the LSK has taken a firm stance on judicial independence, transparency in governance, and the protection of civic space in Kenya. She has also championed mentorship programs for young female lawyers and worked to make the legal field more inclusive and responsive to women’s needs.
“Faith Odhiambo exemplifies the resilience, brilliance, and courage that African women in law continue to demonstrate. Her leadership within Kenya’s legal system is both transformative and inspiring,” said Dr. J. Jarpa Dawuni, Executive Director of the IAWL.
Beyond her work at the LSK, Odhiambo is also a lecturer at the University of Nairobi School of Law and a respected voice in legal education and research. She has been instrumental in shaping conversations on constitutionalism, access to justice, and legal ethics in Kenya.
Her recognition adds to a growing list of Kenyan women earning international accolades for their impact in leadership, public service, and social change. It also comes at a time when women’s representation in legal and political spaces across Africa continues to rise, albeit gradually.
Faith Odhiambo now joins a distinguished network of African legal trailblazers recognized by the IAWL, and her inclusion is expected to inspire a new generation of young women to pursue leadership in law and beyond.
